What is RiverFest FPS?

RiverFest FPS (For Pete’s Sake) is a not-for-profit, 501(c)(3) corporation whose mission is creating and operating a multi-cultural music festival dedicated to educating attendees about environmental issues and promoting a sustainable planet.

Pete and Toshi
Seeger’s Vision

In the late 1960’s, legendary musician Pete Seeger and his wife Toshi envisioned an outdoor music festival on the shores of the Hudson River. They wanted to bring people to the river to appreciate its sheer beauty and become part of a movement to clean it up. For over fifty years, their vision was turned into a reality.  More than half a million music lovers became concerned citizens.

RiverFest’s Vision

RiverFest FPS will revive this music festival

We will bring communities back to the river annually for an environmental outdoor music festival to honor Pete and Toshi’s legacy.

RiverFest FPS will produce an annual, outdoor, family-oriented, environmental, music festival on the shores of the Hudson at Croton Point Park. Festival goers will be informed and educated on contemporary, environmental, and social issues impacting the Hudson Valley and the world.

There will be multi-dimensional experiences with speakers and booth exhibits throughout the park grounds.

Booths and representatives from local, national, and global organizations will share information on subjects such as diversity, equity and inclusion, climate change, zero waste, anti-violence, and sustainable energy and practices.

Concurrently, musical acts on multiple stages throughout the park will attract festival goers and optimize attendance, providing entertainment to audiences of all ages.

Attendees will be given the opportunity to become empowered and educated on how to protect and preserve our communities and planet, while also catching a musical performance line-up of curated bands.

RiverFest FPS will offer attendees multiple educational experiences, including but not limited to the following areas:

  • Activist area booths

  • Performance Stages

  • Zero waste/recycling/food stations, and

  • Green living sustainability exhibit

We recently lost a dear friend and colleague Jeremy Tepper. Jeremy was excited to be working with us to bring a music festival back to Croton Point Park to honor Pete and Toshi Seeger.  He told us about attending the festival as a kid.  He spoke about his performer friends he would ask to participate, how he envisioned the festival would "look", and how the funds raised would be used to support the efforts of various environmental organizations.

Our efforts to bring the festival back continue in his honor!
